  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar (for sugar coating)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for sugar coating)
  • 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter (for buttercream)
  • 3 cups (375g) confectioners' sugar, sifted (for buttercream)
  • 1/3 cup (67g) light brown sugar, packed (for buttercream)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon (for buttercream)
  • 23 teaspoons whole milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
  3. Using a mixer, beat softened butter, shortening, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until creamy. Gradually add flour, cornstarch, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon until fully combined.
  4. Shape dough into balls (about 1/4 cup each) and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture before placing on baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 12-14 minutes; let cool completely before frosting with cinnamon buttercream.
