- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cans (14 oz / 400 g each) crushed tomatoes
- 1½ lb (900 g) gnocchi
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery; cook until softened (8–10 minutes).
- Stir in garlic and ground beef; cook until browned (5–6 minutes).
- Pour in red wine; simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook gnocchi according to package directions; drain.
- Combine cooked gnocchi with the sauce, add fresh basil if desired.
- Serve hot with grated Parmesan on top.
