  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 4 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup brown sugar (reduce to ⅓ or ¼ cup for less sweetness)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons hoisin sauce (low-sodium, if available)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 medium green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Add minced ginger and garlic during the last two minutes.
  2. In a separate pot, boil noodles according to package instructions. Drain once cooked.
  3. Mix soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes into the cooked beef.
  4. Thicken the sauce by adding a cornstarch slurry. Stir until slightly thickened.
  5. Combine cooked noodles with the beef mixture and stir well to coat.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving hot.
