  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24-26 oz) traditional pasta sauce
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 box (16 oz) penne pasta
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Set your Instant Pot to Sauté mode. Add olive oil, ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook until meat is browned.
  2. Stir in the pasta sauce until well combined.
  3. Pour in the water and add basil, Italian seasoning, parsley, and salt; mix thoroughly.
  4. Layer the uncooked penne pasta on top without stirring. Press down gently to submerge.
  5. Secure the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Pressure cook on High for 5 minutes.
  6. Allow natural release for up to 10 minutes based on desired pasta texture.
  7. Release remaining pressure, stir in ricotta and Parmesan until melted and combined.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
