Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef

- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce or tomato puree
- 3 ounces tomato paste (about ¼ cup)
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1–2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- Black pepper, to taste
- 8 ounces bowtie pasta (uncooked)
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, shaved, shredded, or grated
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large 4.5-quart soup pot over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic; cook until beef is browned.
- Stir in diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, tomato paste, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and uncooked pasta.
- Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until pasta is tender.
- Adjust consistency with additional water or broth if needed.
- Serve hot with desired toppings such as ricotta cheese and fresh parsley.
